Victoria, NorthcoteCOMPLETED

This traditional weatherboard home in Victoria was tired, outdated, and well overdue for some thoughtful care.

Respect for the history

What began as a house in need of serious TLC became an opportunity to respectfully layer new life onto an existing structure, without losing sight of its history.

The interiors were stripped right back, allowing the original home to breathe again, before a new red brick and mortar extension was added to the rear. The contrast between old and new was intentional — a contemporary addition that feels grounded, textural, and quietly confident, while still giving a nod to the character of the surrounding suburb.

Inside, the home was reimagined by the owner and interior decorator Lauren Egan, whose fearless approach to colour brings warmth and personality throughout. Soft blush tones are paired with warm Big River timber veneers and antique brass fittings, creating a base palette that feels both playful and refined.

The result is a home that balances traditional charm with contemporary comfort — layered, expressive, and unmistakably personal.
