Victoria Featured in The Design Files

We’re thrilled to share that Victoria, Northcote has been featured in The Design Files, recognising a project that’s all about considered renewal and personal expression.

Originally, this traditional weatherboard home was showing its age — dark, dated, and in need of careful attention. Rather than erasing its past, the approach was to strip the house back and rebuild with intention, allowing its original character to re-emerge while introducing a contemporary layer suited to modern living.

A new red brick extension was added to the rear, deliberately contrasting the existing home. Textural and grounded, the addition feels confident yet respectful, sitting comfortably within the fabric of the surrounding suburb and clearly distinguishing old from new.

Inside, the transformation was guided by owner and interior decorator Lauren Egan, whose bold and intuitive use of colour brings warmth and individuality throughout the home. Soft blush tones sit alongside Big River timber veneers and antique brass fittings, creating interiors that feel rich, layered, and lived-in — never overworked, but full of personality.

The finished home strikes a careful balance between heritage charm and contemporary comfort. Being featured in The Design Files is a proud moment for this project — and a reminder that thoughtful design doesn’t have to shout to be seen.

We get it, sometimes it’s not the right time to speak on the phone (we have our best ideas at midnight too).
