The design explores how a family home can balance flexibility, connection, and long-term adaptability — without overcomplicating the architecture.

From the outset, the brief has focused on creating spaces that respond to real patterns of living. Rather than designing for a single moment in time, the layout is being carefully considered to evolve as the family’s needs change — from everyday family life to entertaining, working from home, and hosting friends.

The emerging design prioritises strong relationships between indoor and outdoor spaces. Generous openings and considered sightlines are being used to create visual connection across the site, while still allowing areas of retreat and privacy where needed. This balance is particularly important in a Bayside context, where lifestyle and climate play a big role in how a home is used.

A clear distinction between zones is being developed to support both social and private moments, while maintaining a sense of flow throughout the house. Practical elements — storage, services, and back-of-house functions — are being integrated early in the design process to ensure the home feels resolved, efficient, and easy to live in once built.
